    Job Summary

    • The Head of Coverage will lead the client coverage team to drive business growth, deepen client relationships, and deliver innovative financial solutions.
    • This individual will oversee the identification of new business opportunities, manage high-value client relationships, and provide strategic advisory services to ensure the achievement of the organization’s revenue and profitability targets.

    Key Responsibilities
    Coverage/ Origination:

    • Lead coverage of key sectors and clients for the Investment Banking business to enhance origination/ business development outcome.
    • Sound industry knowledge, robust senior level network across key sectors such as Financial Services, Agriculture, Power, Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Manufacturing amongst others as well as Sovereigns and Sub-Sovereigns.
    • Highly skilled professional with the ability to secure mandates across Nigeria and Africa to drive revenue growth for the Investment Banking business

    Distribution:

    • Conceptualization and implementation of marketing strategies for sales of securities/ instruments across Investment Banking businesses across Advisory, Capital Market, Project Finance, SME Finance & UCIF to all cadres of institutional investors (Pension Funds, Asset Managers, Banks, Family Offices, Multi-laterals, etc.) and high net worth individuals.
    • Existing senior level relationships across institutional investors and ability to build new senior relationships that translate into increased distribution across Investment Banking business lines.

    Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and execute the client coverage strategy to achieve organizational goals.
    • Lead the coverage team to identify and target potential clients in key industry sectors.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance within the team.

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key corporate and institutional clients.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing tailored financial solutions to meet their needs.
    • Lead client presentations, negotiations, and deal structuring activities.

    Revenue Growth:

    • Drive the origination of high-value investment banking deals, including M&A, capital raising, and advisory mandates.
    • Collaborate with product teams to cross-sell financial products and services to maximize revenue opportunities.
    • Monitor and track client activity to ensure the achievement of revenue and profitability targets.

    Market Intelligence:

    • Stay informed on market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the investment banking industry.
    • Use market insights to identify opportunities and proactively address challenges.

    Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure all client interactions and transactions comply with internal policies and regulatory standards.
    • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with client engagements and deal execution.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
    • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in investment banking, corporate banking, or financial services, with a focus on client coverage or business development.
    • Proven track record of originating and executing high-value transactions.
    • Strong understanding of investment banking products, including M&A, equity and debt capital markets, and advisory services.
    • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
