Responsibilities
- Operating a cab-controlled overhead crane and working around molten steel and slag.
- Safely operate the hot metal crane during operations and times of maintenance at the facility.
- Transporting hot metal for operations.
- Emptying ladles after processing, coordinating the operations with the entire melt shop team, and cross-training other team members in the hot metal crane operator position.
- Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain housekeeping standards at all times.
- Track the functioning of the machine during process and off-process for any irregularities;
- Informing the Manager in charge of corrective action (filling logbook, records, and checklist).
- Advise management on whether the continued operation of equipment would be hazardous.
Requirements and skills
- BSc / HND in Mechanical Engineering or related course
- Minimum of 5 years employment
- Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
